Alli will be the first to point out she didn't make me sell it. It just wasn't getting any use this year - ridden a total of 113 miles since november of 06 - that just ain't right.
It's a little hazy but click the image above to see a larger version. I found this newpaper page between my subfloor and finish floor while fixing the area at the base of our stair. We now know exactly when our floor was poorly installed.
During the early sill repair and wiring we decided to cut a hole in the floor to get at the top of our foundation. We carefully calculated the ideal spot for the hole - between two floor joists at the back of the future closet. We cut the hole but decided a week later to reverse the stair direction - placing the hole in the floor at the bottom of the stairs. Almost three months later it's finally fixed.
As works moves ever closer to the living quarters we've become pretty liberal with the 4 mil plastic barrier. I find this lends a "Piranesian" quality of light to our bedroom.
Alli Barely tolerates this.
new bedroom closet, the previous closet was made entirely out of 1/8" thick feaux wood paneling and had to go.
It may look bootleg but we can pick up a wireless internet signal from the christian boarding school on our block... but only from this one spot in the house. note the flawless subfloor patching behind the ironing board/desk.
We have several updates coming beginning with the upstairs floor... Alli pulled up the flooring (carefully to reuse it later) and found that there was significant damage to the subfloor in a few places.
This will be an on-going chronology of our progress through our whole-house renovation. We thought we'd like a record of the work we will do, and in this internet age, might as well make it a public forum for any and all to use as evidence in the eventual "I told you so"
